Primary sources are at the heart of historical discovery for students. Historic investigation, through the use of archival images, documents, audio recordings, newspapers and video footage of historic events and people, engages students in the era and in the events of the time with the greatest impact and depth of understanding. In the past, access to archival resources was limited to professional historians and those who could visit the prestigious institutions that housed these relics. Now, most of these materials are available to all. This training resource is dedicated to sharing the best archival collections resources of various digital media and to share lesson ideas and instructional strategies that keep primary sources at the center and facilitate student exploration. Now, students can act as true historians, interpreting primary resources to build new understanding of the people and events that built our state, our nation, and our world.
